Biography. [May. 9th, 2010|12:16 pm]
Bronx Wentz’s fate to be a musician was sealed when he was just ten months old, barely walking and talking but obsessed with his toy ‘itar.’ The son of Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and actress/pop singer Ashlee Simpson-Wentz was born in Los Angeles, California on November 20, 1990. At less than six months old he was traveling the world with his mom and dad and living the life of a rockstar. Different cities every night. Hotel rooms. Tour busses. It wasn’t really everyone’s ideal life for their new baby, but Pete and Ashlee made it work, and they never kept him on tour for more than a couple weeks at a time. The older he got though, the more time either Ashlee or Pete spent with him at their home in Los Angeles (or their second home in New York, occasionally in Chicago). They did want to give him as much of a normal life as was possible. As he grew up, though the paparazzi seemed to find his semi-unconventional family an interesting one for photography, Bronx was never hounded so much that the sense of normalcy Pete and Ashlee had attempted to create for him was overshadowed by press.

When the time came for Pete and Ashlee to make a decision about where Bronx went to school they talked about moving back to Chicago and giving him a life similar to Pete’s growing up, but when it came down to it, with Ashlee’s career and Pete’s musician lifestyle, it was easier for them to base themselves in one place and they stayed in Los Angeles. Bronx began private school in Beverly Hills, but was never one of those kids who felt the need to brag about who his parents were. His grades were consistently average and he was always more interested in extracurricular activities, particularly those that involved music. He had been surrounded by the music industry his entire life and as he developed more of an understanding of how it worked he only wanted to be involved in it even more. His sophomore year in high school he started his own band, The Jungle Book.

While he admires his father and his band, Bronx cites William Beckett of The Academy Is as one of his biggest musical influences. Because Pete and William were close, Bronx got to know William and his family well as he grew up. William has always been one of Bronx’s biggest supporters and he’s the father of Bronx’s best friend Genevieve. He and Genevieve were close as kids and they’ve only gotten closer as the years have gone by. He’d give his life for her and would probably go as far to say that she’s the most important person in his life.

Bronx is very business oriented when it comes to music. He knows how the industry works so he was a perfectionist when it came to deciding where to take the band, who to send demos to and when they wanted to release an album. The Jungle Book was signed to the Decaydence/Fueled By Ramen family on Bronx’s 17th birthday.Over the next eight months they worked on their debut album "Can't Stop Won't Stop." During the summer of 2008 they toured with Vans Warped Tour promoting themselves and their upcoming album, and the album was released the following October. Much to Bronx's dismay they didn't tour right away again after the album came out. They spent the fall and winter playing shows in the Los Angeles area so their lead singer could finish high school. He gets asked often if his parents forced him into finish school but it was his own decision.

Pete and Ashlee encouraged Bronx from the time that he was very young to do what he wanted to do and to chase his own dreams, and while they encouraged him to finish high school it was ultimately his decision. However the day after he graduated they were out on tour again. Though they were invited to do Warped tour initially they decided to venture out and do a headlining tour playing small venues. Bronx can't get enough of the tour life. He loves his music and he lives, breathes, and bleeds it every day.

Bronx's sense of discipline doesn’t extend much past his work with his band, however He has more than his share of immature moments and has been called out in the media for blunt comments he makes on his twitter. He’s definitely not afraid to speak his mind, but he’s not generally an asshole unless someone really pisses him off. Most of the time he’s just the typical nineteen year old boy. He loves music. He loves girls, and he loves to have fun. The Jungle Book released an EP entitled "This is Real Life" in December and for now Bronx is back at home in Los Angeles spending time with his best friend, working with his band in the studio, playing a couple of local shows and planning a summer tour.
